Stella saw the tightrope walker in Venice, near the Rialto Bridge. Her costume and make-up were striking, but what stood out was her mood; from stage nerves as she leaned against a tree to composure when stepping onto the rope. In turn the crowd went from anxious to entranced as she balanced with a feather duster and parasol. Stella has depicted both moods.

Coloured pencil on A2 paper. Framed.
