David Richardson

David is an en plein air artist whose passion for drawing on location began while studying Art at university. After graduating, he moved to London, where the city's diverse architecture and neighbourhoods—from Borough Market to Hampton Court Palace—became his inspiration.

After a 35-year career in magazine publishing, progressing from graphic designer to Group Creative Dire

ctor, David returned to his original passion: drawing and painting on location.

Working in pencil, ink, and watercolour, he captures both London's iconic landmarks and hidden gems. Rather than recording a single moment, he immerses himself in a place, observing its changing atmosphere and carefully composing each illustration with dramatic perspective, strong contrasts, and bold composition.

Over the past three years, David has combined his illustration and design skills to create three illustrated London walking guidebooks available online:

• The Walking Guide to London Royal Secrets & Scandals
• The Walking Guide to London Waterways

His illustrations have appeared in Breathe magazine and have been exhibited at the AOI and Urban Sketchers Art Show.
