Exciting News from the Six Ceramicists in Skylark Gallery!

This month we welcome Janet White to the gallery: here you can see Janet happily working at her potter’s wheel.

Janet’s pieces are inspired by the sea. She uses glazes that she makes to evoke the texture and movement of the sea. The piece shown below is called ‘Seascape Moonjar’ priced at £250  (19cm height x 24 cm diameter).

Caroline Nuttall Smith is shown below having received a ‘Judges Commendation’ at The London Potters’ Annual Exhibition which featured work from 120 members. Look closely and you can see the red dots indicating sales too.

Caroline’s ‘Space Vase’, shown below is Stoneware Ceramic, priced at £140

As well as Caroline, Richard Dickson also creates his ceramic pieces in the beautiful Dockyard Ceramics studio in Greenwich.

Richard’s stunning stoneware ceramic pieces ‘Ocean’ are shown below.
 19cm high £300 each

And here you can see Ruty Benjamini setting up the kiln in her new studio space in Balham.

Ruty’s piece ‘Green Swirl Pitcher’ (below) is priced at £100  18 x 18 x 11 cm

Gillian Brett has also moved into a new studio space this year, a Grade 1 listed potting shed in the grounds of the iconic Chiswick House, shown below.

The piece shown on the sculpture stand is ‘Girl at the top’ 28cms tall and priced at £195.

If you’d like to peek behind the scenes and see where Gillian’s sculptures are created, please come to Chiswick House Open Studio day, Saturday 6th December, 10.30 - 3, Free and all welcome. You’ll find Gillian in Studio 7, and her work is featured online with Skylark Galleries.

Last but not least, here’s Vivien Phelan’s wonderful working studio:

Vivien says:

“This is my happy place, not that everything always goes well but it is where I go to play with mud! My husband had it built as a surprise when I was away with my sister. It is rather cold & as you can see I am untidy, it is not clean (I do clean it but will never be in a pristine condition). As Christmas is coming rapidly and making ceramics is a slow, expensive process. My priority today is to get my yearly nativity set finished, fired and on display…plus a couple of lovely commissions finished and to make sure the kiln is full to get good heat transfer. You are always welcome to pop in . Merry Xmas to you all!  Vivien"

Ceramics make wonderful Christmas presents and there is a unique selection available in the Skylark Gallery, Gabriel’s Wharf and online. Don’t miss those last delivery dates, or drop into the gallery to make your choice in person.
