Trafalgar Square, London by David Richardson

£185.00

A plein air pencil, ink and watercolour painting.
Sitting on the corner of Whitehall, I drew this a couple of years ago, capturing the lively atmosphere of Trafalgar Square in central London.
At its heart stands Nelson’s Column, commemorating Admiral Horatio Nelson’s victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Four magnificent bronze lions guard the base, with fountains adding to the grandeur of the square. The National Gallery stands proudly at the northern end.
A popular gathering place for visitors and pigeons alike, the square also hosts festive celebrations, including the annual Christmas tree gifted by Norway.
