Tower Bridge, London by David Richardson

£185.00

A plein air pencil, ink and watercolour painting.

I sat on the stepped seating along the South Bank of the Thames, with a perfect view of Tower Bridge. Probably the most famous bridge on the Thames, it is often mistakenly referred to as London Bridge by tourists.
Designed by Sir Horace Jones and engineered by Sir John Wolfe Barry, Tower Bridge was built to ease the severe road congestion experienced in Victorian London. Opened in 1894, it combines a bascule and suspension bridge design. Its central bascules lift to allow tall-masted ships to pass along the Thames.
Tower Bridge has also appeared in several films, including Spider-Man, Independence Day: Resurgenceand The Mummy Returns.

It has also featured in several films, including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
