The Shard by Rose Owen

This contemporary abstract painting of The Shard in London is created with layered mixed media. Beginning with acrylic paint, fluorescent spray, and charcoal sketches, the composition builds through palette knife textures, additional acrylics, Posca pens, and charcoal to create bold contrasts, movement, and depth. 

For me, The Shard is more than an architectural landmark; it reflects a formative period of resilience. Constructed during my early years in London, it became a metaphor for 
perseverance. I had just finished university amid a financial crisis, facing rejection and self-doubt, yet kept growing and moving upwards. 

Through striking colours and a strong abstract composition, this London artwork conveys both the vibrancy of the city and the enduring spirit of resilience, ambition, and renewal that The Shard represents.
