A plein air pencil, ink and watercolour painting.
I sat and drew this view from the hill just in front of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, looking down towards the magnificent Old Royal Naval College.
Designed by Sir Christopher Wren, the college became a training academy for Royal Navy officers in 1873, earning the nickname “the University of the Navy”. It continued in this role until 1997.
Today, the historic buildings are shared by the University of Greenwich and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. They have also provided a spectacular backdrop for numerous film productions, including Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Les Misérables.
Size of artwork: A3 landscape 42cm x 29.7cm (16.5" x 11.75").
Price Unframed: £175
Medium: Watercolour, pencil, ink on 300gsm Winsor & Newton cold press paper
