The Millennium Bridge, London by David Richardson

£155.00

A plein air pencil, ink and watercolour painting.
I sat beside the Thames, in front of Tate Modern, to draw the Millennium Bridge, the newest footbridge across the river at the time of its opening. It first opened in 2000 and quickly became known as the “Wobbly Bridge” because of unexpected swaying caused by pedestrians walking across it. After modifications to resolve the problem, it reopened in 2002. The bridge connects the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on the south bank with St Paul’s Cathedral on the north bank. It has also featured in several films, including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
