A plein air pencil, ink and watercolour painting.
I drew this unusual building in London’s financial district for a book I was creating. It’s the iconic headquarters of Lloyd’s of London, designed by architect Richard Rogers. In a striking architectural twist, the staircases, lifts, ducts and utility pipes are all placed on the exterior, leaving the interior space open.
It was quite a challenge to capture all those interlocking shapes and gleaming stainless steel! The building has also featured in several films, including Entrapment, Mamma Mia! and Trainspotting.
