A plein air pencil, ink and watercolour painting.
Drawn on a very quiet day, The Globe Tavern sits in the midst of Borough Market. It once catered to the market workers, allowing them to enjoy an early-morning drink before starting their day. Criss-crossed by railway viaducts, this Victorian brick pub feels almost crowded out by the surrounding structures.
Borough Market once sold mainly fruit, vegetables and potatoes, supplying restaurants and shops across South London. Today, it offers a whole collection of artisan foods and other wares, catering largely to visitors and tourists.
The Globe Tavern is perhaps best known for its appearance in the film Bridget Jones’s Diary, starring Renée Zellweger, in which Bridget lives in a flat above the pub.
