St Giles' without Cripplegate, Barbican by David Richardson

£280.00

An original plein air ink, pencil and watercolour capturing this medieval church nestled within the heart of the brutalist Barbican complex. The ornate historic architecture sits in striking contrast to the surrounding exposed concrete structures.

As I sketched, people arrived to visit the galleries, theatre and cinema, while lunchtime visitors slowly gathered, many sitting in the sunshine beside the pond. This unexpected meeting of old and new inspired me to capture the scene.
