A photograph rarely offers the variations in viewing point possible when drawing from life. They mostly provide an abundance of surface detail, but not the essence of a pose. Lost edges become hard because the gentle light quality lacks subtlety and so the image stays two-dimensional. You can only get weight shift, tension points ad gestures from a photograph if you understand them first by seeing them in real life.
Charcaol drawing on paper. Unframed.
Image: 59.4 x 42.0cm (23.4 x 16.5 inches).
