Liverpool Street Station by David Richardson

A plein air ink and watercolour, drawn from the balcony overlooking the station concourse. Light cascades through the great Victorian ironwork windows, illuminating a grand, cathedral-like interior made of slender cast-iron columns and long sweeping delicate filigree brackets.

   The historic architecture contrasts beautifully with modern electronic train displays and 21st-century commuters, who appear tiny beneath the vast railway station auditorium. I sat undisturbed for many hours, observing and capturing the constant movement within this magnificent space.
