Hampton Court Palace by David Richardson

£250.00

A plein air pencil, ink and watercolour painting, drawn from the entrance to the palace grounds on a very hot, sunny day.
Hampton Court Palace was one of Henry VIII’s favourite residences. Originally built by Cardinal Wolsey, who gifted it to Henry in an attempt to win his favour, the palace was later greatly expanded during Henry’s reign. All six of his wives spent time here.
The palace is home to its remarkable 500-year-old astronomical clock, real tennis courts and a famous maze. It is also said to be haunted by the ghosts of Catherine Howard and Jane Seymour.
Opened to the public in 1838, Hampton Court has since provided the setting for numerous film productions, including Pirates of the Caribbean and The Favourite.
