Brighton Pier by David Richardson

A plein air drawing on a hot, sunny day trip to Brighton.

   The Victorian pier stretching out to sea provided my inspiration. From my chosen spot, I drew and captured the pier, beach and a colourful African street vendor selling hats, sunglasses, trinkets and clothes from an old red telephone box and table.

   Tourists wandered by towards the beach while seagulls circled overhead, occasionally resting on the nearby huts. I wanted to capture the lively, colourful atmosphere of a classic Brighton summer's day.
