I’ve a lot of time for tribute bands. Not only do they have to sound like the band they love - mimicking both the voices and the musicianship of their heroes - they often have to look and act like them too. The Ultimate Beatles, which I caught at the Half Moon Putney where I’m Resident Artist, take you back down memory lane with a series of authentic costume changes that reflect the look of the supergroup during its many eras. As it’s no longer possible to see The Beatles in person, this band, who use authentic instruments and equipment, entertain audiences with a large repertoire of Beatle hits… And Cliff Smith really does look extraordinarily like George Harrison.
