An original painting of a yellowhammer perched on a branch, painted in gouache with fine coloured pencil detail on 300gsm watercolour paper. Its bright yellow head and chestnut-streaked back are a familiar sight along farmland hedgerows, where its song is traditionally remembered as “a little bit of bread and no cheese.” Once common across the British countryside, the yellowhammer is now on the UK’s red list of birds of conservation concern.
The painting is sold unframed. At A4, it fits standard ready-made frames and mounts.
