Wildflower Design Stoneware Casserole by Jonquil Cook

This gorgeous double-bowled 'casserole' is thrown from stoneware clay and richly decorated in a relief pattern of wild flowers and grasses. The design is made through the hand-engraving of a cobalt-oxide coloured slip, revealing the bare clay beneath. Each piece I create is unique: I do not use templates or stencils and I work entirely free-hand. The piece is glazed inside and out, rendering it entirely food and oven-safe. 26cm high, weighs 2 kg.
