Mary Leach

I gained a degree in Art, Design and Marketing at Lancaster University, focusing on illustration and graphic design. My graphics background is still an influence on my current painting style as I enjoy using strong tonal contrast and investigating the tension in shapes created by the negative space.

My paintings often show snapshots of people caught in a moment in time, going about their everyday lives. Inspiration for many of my paintings also comes from my lifelong passion for dance and enjoyment in studying movement of the human form. Yet, quite often, I find myself being drawn back to painting what nature has gifted us, enjoying the beauty in the variety of colours and shapes that can be found in a simple flower.

My love of art and anything creative has always crept into all aspects of my life and I am now grateful to have more time to focus on my painting.
