Autumn Palette by Diana Mckinnon

This scene reminded me of a palette of red and yellow paint that could be mixed to arrive at the variety of colours in this picture. Hand dyed silk fibres are changed into fragments of silk paper, layered to represent the leaves, free motion embroidery stitching adds another layer in the blending of colour. The trunks of the silver birches, with their dark markings, divide the picture so that you glimpse through to the distant light.
