Dead Man’s Uke Half Moon Putney blues musician portrait by Stella Tooth

STH00013

£520.00

Stella Tooth, resident artist of the Half Moon Putney, painted 'Dead Man's Uke' after catching them play there. Tiny Tim's famous song, "Tiptoe Through the Tulips," was his last before a fatal heart attack. The uke now belongs to a father & son duo, who play old blues tunes. The band was named when the son asked, "Where's that dead man's uke?" In this artwork Stella seeks to show the duo's relationship with their instruments, where the double bass, for example, became a dancing partner.

Oil on canvas. Unframed.

76 x 61 x 2cm (30 x 24 x 0.78 inches).

A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
