A painting about love.
Acrylic glazes on deep edge canvas of two Red Crowned cranes.
Helen became fascinated by this endangered species having spent time in Japan. These beautiful birds stay with their partner for eternity and legend has it that they live to be 1000 years old. A romantic union of true love, the cranes symbolise good luck, long life and eternal love. Helen has used Japanese brushes to glaze her painting using layer upon layer of deep cerulean and tones of blue in the background. The birds gleam with subtle gold highlights applied with a gel medium made to her exact recipe. A gift of a gingko leaf is being given as a daily ritual of love and courtship. This piece took seven weeks from start to finish.
