There’s a cafe near high up to the right of the causeway that leads to the Castelllo Aragonese in Ischia in the Bay of Naples. From it you can look down onto a small beach as you sip a caffe latte and watch the bathers put their towels on rocks and cool their feet while they sunbathe. I found inspiration for my art in this group of Italian women who were putting the world to rights, massaging suntan lotion into each other’s shoulders and, carefree, letting it all hang out.
