This part thrown, part hand-built stoneware vase is engraved with a relief carving of trees, inspired by the woodlands of Wales. The surface of the vase has been painted with copper oxide coloured slip, then carved free-hand, the negative spaces in the design being scraped away to reveal the bare clay beneath. The vase presents a unique art object, glazed inside and out, watertight and functional. It stands at 46cm tall and weighs 4 kilos.
