Stoneware India Platter by Jonquil Cook

This black stoneware platter, measuring 30cm in diameter, is decorated with relief carvings based on designs seen in traditional Indian woodblock printed textiles. A layer of white clay has been delicately carved and scraped away to reveal the black clay body beneath. The piece is glazed with food safe non-toxic glazes rendering it entirely functional as a highly decorative serving platter as well as being a stand-alone art object.
