The Broderers' Exhibition

The Art of Embroidery

We are delighted to hear that Skylark artist Diana McKinnon has been accepted for this prestigious exhibition at the Bankside Gallery.

Diana dyes vintage fabrics with rust and tea to colour a variety of fabrics that can then be cut and collaged to create the surface skin of these animals. Free motion embroidery defines the texture and creases of the animals.

The Broderers’ Exhibition 2025: The Art of Embroidery is an open-submission art exhibition, organised by The Worshipful Company of Broderers, one of the ancient Livery Companies of the City of London. The exhibition promotes and celebrates embroidery as fine art.

Over 150 art pieces that evidence the highest standards of embroidery have been selected to be exhibited; the works include hand embroidery, machine embroidery or a combination of both. There is no pre-set theme, and both contemporary and traditional artworks are included. Exhibitors range from established artists to emerging artists; all pieces are original and available for sale.
