Delicate sculptural ceramic art, enhancing clay features and textures and celebrating contrasts, between inside and outside, muted and bright colours, matt and shiny surfaces, clean and torn edges.
Ruty makes one-off and family groups of sculptural vessels, female nude figurines, and wall pieces, inspired by natural forms and textures, weathered and effaced surfaces, and ancient ceramics and glass.
Ruty will be in the gallery on Friday 1st July and Sunday 17th July.
Sarah takes inspiration from textures and light in the natural world. Each piece usually starts as a reflection on a place travelled to. They develop from pencil sketches focused on composition, line and form. Each one trying to capture the essence of a small detail in the world. Sarah’s pastel pieces are landscape based focusing on movement and colour.
The original prints have been carefully handmade by the artist using the linocut printing technique. Each design is a limited edition. Each print is signed by the artist and is inscribed in pencil with the title and has its own individual number. Because of the method, each is unique and an original piece of art.
Sarah will be in the gallery on Sunday 3rd July and Sunday 10th July.
