Wildflower contemporary vase

Tall vase, part thrown, part hand-built from stoneware clay. Deep turquoise interior glaze visible through an assymetrical opening. Surface decoration is hand-carved using the sgraffito technique of scraping away cobalt oxide coloured slip to reveal the bare clay beneath. The artist works free-hand, without a model, through observation of natural wildflowers and grasses. Stands at 38cm.
