It first opened in 2000 and quickly became known as the “Wobbly Bridge” because of unexpected swaying caused by pedestrians walking across it. After modifications to resolve the problem, it reopened in 2002. The bridge connects the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on the south bank with St Paul’s Cathedral on the north bank.
