Paulie X has always found modern languages inadequate and has always expressed himself in art from as early as the age of 6.
He uses his art as a means to start important conversations
.. conversations about key societal issues – racism, classism, misogyny & feminism, politics, inequality, sexuality, beauty, climate change and the ongoing human inflicted climate disaster.
As well as identity, humanity and what really makes us “Us”.
He chooses art as a way to express feelings and thoughts where words may fail or fall short.
“I may be eloquent but don’t always have the words to express myself
I may be well spoken and yet not always have the right words
to express my thoughts and feelings
(Sometimes) no language is sufficient to express what I must say
this is why I draw
this is why I paint
this is the language in which I best express myself”
~ Paulie X
Paulie loves to explore new media and draws and paints in mixed styles ranging from the hyperrealism of his earlier works ‘Emrata’ & ‘JILL’, his modern more fluid, minimalistic mixed-media style – with lots of sketch and drawing lines still in plain view (as seen in his “King ALI”, “WANTED..” 2020 & 2021 pieces and a mix of both styles as seen in his 2020 Malcolm X diptych “RESOLVE” & “BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY”
