I find it inspiring when someone looks at one of my paintings and sees in it a complex narrative that I hadn’t been aware of.
All my paintings tell stories. By keeping their first appearance relatively abstract I hope to enable the viewers’ imagination to conjure their own characters and weave their own narrative.
My Entrances series is about journeys – past, present and in and out of different worlds.
My process involves using colour glazes, some underdrawing and a range of brush techniques. At present, the use of a palette knife fascinates me, along with using acrylic under oil paint.
When stumped I like to change mediums ….but carry on the conversation. The change often leads me down an unexpected path, which can be also be inspiring.
