Claire Thorogood is “an instinctive painter” whose work will be on show for three weeks from Monday, 28 October, 2019 at Skylark Galleries 2.
She is currently featured in the opening show of the new The Art Hub Gallery in Royal Tunbridge Wells.
She will also be taking a gold leaf creative workshop in The Art Hub Gallery on Sat 7 December.
She says a seminal experience for her has been ballroom and Latin American dancing to world championship level as an under 16 Junior, and experience which she believes “has shaped me throughout my life on every level”.
Nevertheless, being in front of the cameras when dancing didn’t prepare her for painting live on TV, which she says was her scariest experience to date, “although within two minutes I was loving it!”
Prior to becoming a full-time artist, Claire travelled the world as a Fashion and textile designer for 30 years.
The most memorable responses she has had to her animal and human portraiture range from tears to “oh my God” in a good way!
Her dream project would be to work on a body of work for a high end interior project, where she gets to see her art in beautifully stylish surroundings which the client is continually moved by emotionally and visually.
