What inspires you?
A need from someone inspires me, when someone asks me for a bespoke piece of work I feel very inspired and excited about the new creation. Therefore collaborating with other artists inspires me deeply because it´s a very beautiful challenge.
Is there a common theme to your work?
Yes, it is about the balance. I equilibrate shapes (curves and straight lines); and it´s mainly about the balance between the natural world and artificial elements.
What is your favourite medium or artist’s tool to work with and why?
It’s definitely wood. I love trees and wood; I work mainly with the technique of marquetry in all its forms and tools, although I am also keen on other mediums.
What experiences enabled you to develop your skills as an artist?
We always had marquetry pictures at home, I got a BA in Fine Arts and also a Masters in Product Design Management, and I’ve been traveling everywhere trying to meet specialists in my field to develop my knowledge in Marquetry and Art.
What do you love most about being an artist?
The freedom in working out timetables. The compulsory and constant habit of seeing things from very different perspectives as an artist. Being open-minded helps me in life to be happy and understanding.
Best bit of advice you came across.
Don´t give up, make your own path, if you follow others´ steps you will only arrive where others have already been.
Most pleasing artwork you created to date?
That varies a lot over time. But probably, “My Thinking Structure” is the most complete artwork.
